Anna-Maria Ernesti

Anna-Maria Ernesti is an early stage researcher at the University of Bamberg. Her undergraduate studies in Bamberg and London contained the subjects German Literature, Language and Culture as well as Art History. With her Zentrum für Mittelalterstudien (Zemas)-related master’s degree “Medieval Studies“ she specialised in the core subjects Older German Literature, Medieval Art History and Medieval History.

Her master’s theses examined the strategies in Eilharts von Oberg “Tristrant” to depict the adulterers Tristrant and Isalde as positive characters in word and image. The illuminated manuscript is seen as a multimedia tradition bearer, open to various ways of reception. With her research project she pushes this thoughts further with focus on the Heidelberg manuscript H (cpg346) and the early printings.
