Welcome to the virtual home of the

Network for Medieval Arts & Rituals (NetMAR)

Thank you for visiting our site!

We are a new, international, cross-disciplinary network dedicated to the study of medieval arts and rituals.

NetMAR brings together scholars, researchers, and students from different countries, backgrounds, institutions, and disciplines, all of whom are committed to academic excellence and to widening participation.

The network is made up of three major partners:

  • University of Cyprus (UCY) and its newly-created Centre for Medieval Arts & Rituals (CeMAR)
  • Centre for Medieval Literature (CML) at the University of Southern Denmark (SDU)
  • the Centre for Medieval Studies (ZeMas) at the University of Bamberg (UNI BA)

The implementation of the programme will substantially contribute to the strengthening and further promotion of the already internationally prestigious Byzantine and Western Medieval Studies conducted at the University of Cyprus. At the same time, it will play an important role in the preservation and dissemination of the rich Cypriot medieval heritage, both tangible and intangible.
